examples of bad and good quality

\

The main tenor of this post is to expose what is  good quality and what is not. The first photo are of the not so good family, the photo
on the left is a  best buy  wal-mart type case.
allow me to pick this apart the outside looks nice and clean, well not really the piece if taken apart is made up of the thinnest leather made with what I call High Quality Cardboard or HQC this has been tacked with some drop of glue and sewn with the thinnest thread available and shipped out to the end user and there you go.

Now to illustrate what quality looks like. This purse is made up of  100% American cowhide or leather some were in the area of  1/4 thick in some spaces, having done tests on leather
such as what makes up this purse it can with stand a mountain of damage and with just a little care it will last many years. It is sewn and glued, the glue is the best you can procure and it covers the entire surface that must be glued, the thread is a four strand of top quality thread that is recessed in the leather so as to keep it from ever having wear. This does not cover any decoration that for the most part is a one of a kind and done by a skilled hand.
this shows very well what is really in your leather goods and what your paying for.

Quality Leather goods

Welcome to my blog the purpose of this is to educate people on why hand crafted items cost more, and why they are the smart thing to buy. The train of thought today is buy for less and when it breaks or tears buy a new one. This in my way of thinking is way off the mark if you buy a phone case for your cell phone for  $ 20 dollars and it lasts one year and you do this for ten years
(this of course is giving the case a long life)  you will have spent $ 200 dollars, now lets say you buy a custom one of a kind case from a skilled leather worker and it costs $ 60 on the very highest end and it gives you a good 20 years of use you just made
$ 140 dollars in ten years and even more if and when it lasts longer now thats smart.
people are blinded and pushed in to buying cheap but in the big picture you are getting taken for
a ride throwing your money away.
I will be adding some more on what is good and what is not later on for hand crafted items
